Digital Filtering is the process of analyzing ambient vibration at the load cell and adjusting digital filters to eliminate the negative effect on speed and accuracy.
Background vibration occurs in virtually every plant and is caused by conveyors, processing equipment, and even the natural resonance frequency of the building.
This ambient vibration has two negative effects:
- The scale loses accuracy because the movement of the weigh bucket due to vibration is seen as a change in weight making it difficult to judge the actual weight of the product in the bucket.
- Increased settle time is required to improve accuracy which decreases speed.
Our patented Digital Filtering System allows the technician to evaluate the ambient vibration and adjust the filter constants to smooth out the influence of the ambient vibration resulting in better accuracy and higher speeds.
Unlike other weighers, we don’t need rubber mounting pads which are used to try to isolate the scale from vibration. Our Digital Filtering System is powerful enough to handle the task of eliminating the effect of ambient vibration without the nuisance of rubber mount pads.
